Film Lab Technician

We are looking to hire a super proactive, results-driven Film Lab Technician to ensure the smooth running of the lab while providing amazing customer service. Relics provides a very high-end experience for its customers and that experience must be maintained through all interactions and services provided.
Key Responsibilities:
- Film Processing: Develop, scan, and print black & white, color (C-41), ECN-2, and E6 film to ensure top-quality results.
- Equipment Maintenance: Operate and maintain film lab equipment, including processors, scanners, and printers, ensuring optimal performance and cleanliness at all times.
- Chemical Management: Mix, handle, and dispose of photo chemicals following safety and environmental protocols.
- Sales: Assist customers in choosing the right cameras, film and other products and services for their needs, providing guidance based on expertise in analog photography.
- Customer Service: Communicate with customers to receive orders, provide updates on job status, and troubleshoot any issues with their film or prints. Handle retail sales, ringing up customers, and answering questions about film photography products.
- Quality Control: Ensure all images meet quality standards before delivery, checking for clarity, color accuracy, and proper exposure.
- Order Coordination: Manage incoming orders, track turnaround times, and coordinate with team members to meet deadlines.
- Inventory Management: Maintain stock of chemicals, paper, and other lab supplies, ensuring the lab is always equipped for production.
- Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot while providing fast and effective solutions when roadblocks occur
- Operations: Actively support the day-to-day operations of the store and lab, including maintaining a clean, organized, and well-presented environment to ensure a premium customer experience

Requirements:
- Experience in Film Photography: Previous experience working in a photo lab, with a strong understanding of film formats (35mm, 120, large format) and processes (black & white, C-41, E6, and ECN-2).
- Detail-oriented: High attention to detail to ensure the quality of all processed images and prints.
- Well Organized: Must be an organized, self-managed worker with strong time management skills; the ability to work effectively in the face of ambiguity, shifting priorities, and competing responsibilities.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Capable of troubleshooting issues with film processing, scanning, or printing equipment.
- Excellent Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication, while proactively communicating status updates, suggestions, and concerns.
- Accountable: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency, under a high degree of accountability.
- Work Autonomously: To be successful as a Film Lab Technician, you should be well-organized while working with a high degree of autonomy. Ultimately, an outstanding technician should demonstrate excellent time management and communication skills.
Job Details:
- Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
- Expected hours: 10 – 25 per week
Schedule: Relics is open Tues-Sun. Weekend availability is required (Sat/Sun).
